Snookie finally has completed a full run of the Wailing Caverns and has a shiny new Crescent Staff and some nice blues to show for it. After several failed attempts at pulling a “legit” group together the make of the successful group was two lvl 20 Druids, a lvl 17 Druid, a lvl 18 warrior and…a lvl 80 Rogue. So much for a level correct run but if I kept waiting on it to happen Snookie will be running in there at level 30. There is some great stuff to be had in the Wailing Caverns. For example…
As a result of the Leader of the Fang Quest Snooike picked up this Crescent Staff. Pretty nice stats for a low level beating stick. Also he won the roll on a couple of nice drops including a Glowing Lizardscale Cloak and a few nice green replacement pieces for wrist and legs.
By completing a few of the quests for the guys hiding out in the right eye socket of the WC entrance Snook can now use his ever increasing Leatherworking skill to make Deviate Scale Belts which is a damn nice little bit of kit. These are BoE so I’m looking forward to seeing what these go for in AH. Currently there two patterns up for sale (on Antonidas-US) for 35 gold a pop which is a nice return for you non-leatherworkers.
As for the WC run. It’s a fun instance. Lots of mobs to worry about, some wacky long patrols to look for and some great loot. Sure, I had to cave and run the whole thing with a lvl 80 Rogue who basically spammed Fan of Blades and everything around him fell over like 13 year old girls at a Jonas Brothers Concert. I got to play around with the Omen addon a few times when the rest of us got a chance to take on a mini boss or two. All in all a must for low level Druids…great stuff, tons of leather for your skinning and leatherworking and good practice to boot.
We did have a “real” experience in the Wailing Caverns with myself and another lvl 21 Druid. My buddy missed the pick up on one of the gems for the Leaders of the Fang quest and our group had already broken up. So the two of us went back in alone and we did pretty darn good. With careful pulls, aggressive aggro swapping and a liberal use of Prowl we were able to get in and out with only a death or two a piece. Good stuff!
A word about the final “event” in the WC. After you clear everything you can return to the Druid hanging out just inside the portal and trigger an event. It’s basically an escort quest where the guy pauses once in a while to summon up bad guys you need to take out. The Druid is super slow…very slow. He takes his sweet time so jog ahead a bit to deal the the random wandering re-pop. The final guy is a huge pissed off Murloc named “Mutanus the Devourer” and he comes up from the murky depths of the final pool the guy takes you to. Mutanus has a Sleep spell like the Druids of the Fang as well as a Fear spell but he really was not that tough to take down.
If you’ve not yet taken a run through WC get to it! I’m sure you’ll have better luck at grabbing a “legit” group than I did. Thanks!

Well thanks alot. Due to this statement:
“…spammed Fan of Blades and everything around him fell over like 13 year old girls at a Jonas Brothers Concert.”
I had a lot of explaining to do as to why I was laughing so hard. Do you have any idea how hard it is to explain to someone that “I am laughing at something I read on a Druid blog”
heh, but seriously I needed the laugh anyway. Just be glad I wasn’t drinking anything or you would owe me a new laptop mister!

It’s just sad and wrong that I admitted that I know who the Jonas Brothers are…I see that now. However, none of their music is in my house (except the good stuff of course). As for a new laptop in the case of a beverage snarfel…there is a 6 or 7 year old Compaq laptop weighing in at just under 20 pounds I can pass on…if you like?

worst kind of snarf would be the oreo cookie – still crumbly and hard – and milk of course. Don’t try this it home! It leaves gashes in yer nose.
