Flirting with the Nexus

There are times when we get in over our heads. Typically I find myself in bad, and embarrassing, situations when I’m not paying attention…either the TV is on, I’m on the phone, cracking open a frost beverage or whatever. One of the aspects of the game that’s the most fun is that your situation can go from totally fine to critical in about 30 seconds.

A good example happened last night while running around the island of Coldarra in Northrend. This rather small island is populated with tons of level 70-71 mobs and a couple of level 72-73 non-elite area bosses. Really not a problem at level 71 if your paying attention, which I was not. Since this island is really pretty small as you run you’re often running in a slightly circular motion which means you don’t run out of combat as soon as you might think you would.

When banging out the quests here I resorted to running through packs of mobs mounted to get from point a to point b and thought nothing of it. Until I got popped, dazed and dismounted. When turning to look who was following me, figuring maybe one melee type or a pissed of spell caster of some sort. Unfortunately it looked like a soccer riot was going on and I was the only guy wearing the wrong jersey. So I got killed by yard trash. I can admit it. <sniff>

So I’m getting pretty close to going into the Nexus. Running out of excuses as pretty much every quest on the Island and the Borean Tundra are done. I’ve got a handful of “go into the Nexus” quests I’d like to bang out prior to exploring Northrend further.

I have poked my head in, of course. Just to get the lay of the land. Upon entry I came across two elite level 72′s and a named elite level 73. I tangled a bit with one of the 72′s (trees, dot, dot, root, debuff, wrath, etc) and made very little progress. In fact I went running out of there popping Lifeblooms. Also embarrassing.

So! The Nexus beckons. Hopefully I can grab a good group to get in there and make some progress in a much less embarrassing manner. Till next time!

UpDate: After writing the above I found myself with an hour or two to kill so I popped in game and put out a “Anyone up for Nexus?” Immediately a group of guys were in, low level 70′s – shammy, hunter, rogue and warrior… and within 5 minutes we were in the Nexus…easy! As we were getting ready, however, I get a call from my parents neighbor. There was a fire at my parents house! I was out the door and gone. As it turned out the fire was a few doors down and thankfully everyone was okay. Still have yet to run a Nexus tho!

After playing a Druid in the World of Warcraft casually for a while I decided to start up a little website. It's all Druids all the time here on WoW Druid.com! I'm not an expert, nor am I the best player ever to play a Druid in the history of the game. I just really like playing a Druid, running some Druid PvP and basically talking about this addicting game. Thanks!
